Give up on UCLA?!

I desperately need some opinions.

I'm a UCR student right now & I'm planning on applying for transferring this next academic year. My 2 choices are UCLA & UCSD. I know that SD doesn't have much specific requirements as LA. And the requirements seem too complicated. And I'm not sure if it's worth going to UCLA as an undergrad. I'm a psychology major & it's even more competitive to transfer w/ my major. I'm not exactly sure if I should try for UCLA anymore. It's a large campus & harder to stand out from the other students. And it's in LA, so tons more distractions!

Right now, I have a cumulative gpa of 3.981. I'm in the honors program & an honors psychology research assistant.

So should I focus my transferring goals on SD or still look into UCLA? What are pros/cons?

Stay at UCR, keep up the good work and graduate with honors.

stay at ucr. that gpa is amazing, and it may (may not) go down at ucla. you can go a lot of places for grad school with that gpa.

just apply and see if u got in or not… then decide… =]

there’s something called uc reciprocity where it lets you complete all your ge’s so you don’t need to take any more when you transfer. Also, try to take courses that match the UC you’re planning to apply to. The courses won’t have the same number, but they will often have the same course title or name. This means you should take your college catalog and the one you’re planning to apply to and make sure they match up with units and course content. If they’re close, then they might transfer over when you transfer also. Your gpa looks good, so you have a good shot if you want to transfer

I always ask this when I see UCR students wanting to transfer:

Why do you want to transfer from UCR?

ComradeD, that’s because Riverside is a terrible place to be stuck for 4 years. I’ve lived in Riverside all my life, but I transferred to Cal last year. If Riverside wasn’t home, I would hate to be there.

No offense, but who the hell wouldn’t want to transfer from UCR to a top-tier UC like LA or Berkeley? Better social scene, education, and job prospects after you graduate.

and foood!
