Ok so I checked my transcripts and I was shocked to see a W grade for a weights class I dropped. A bit of background I took this class because it was a class my coach made the team sign up for. I dropped the class because after season I didn’t plan on returning to play next season. So I dropped the class before the “drop without a W” date so I would get my refund and not get a W. I noticed the W just today so, the emails I sent to the school about the issue won’t reach till monday.
I will of course state my case to reverse the W but in the event that it doesn’t how would a W on a weights class be seen on my gpa, transcripts, and when I prepare to transfer to a UC. I’ve never had a W before so I’m on edge about it.
Withdraws don’t count towards counting GPA. I have three Ws and my gpa is still the same.
I still got accepted to colleges I applied to. I’m two for two. Although if you have a class that is required for your major then you’ll have to take it at your transfer school.
Transfer admissions personnel don’t want to see a transcript with a bunch of Ws on it. However, one W in a PE course is not going to affect your chances.
Well I’m going into the admin office tomorrow to get this straightened out. My major has nothing to do with PE so I hope transfer admin personal overlook it. I will go in tomorrow morning to get this straightened out since I dropped the class before the W date. If it doesn’t go well I’ll be unhappy for a while.
At my local CC, I was able to file an appeal to get a couple Ws removed off my transcript. It was conditional. IIRC, they had to be old (can’t remember how old), I had to have demonstrated improved grades, or I re-took the classes and passed them. It also helped that they were classes that had nothing to do with my major.
