Global Studies at UCLA and UCSB

Hello everyone please feel to tell me any updates on how competitive this major will be this year 2009 at both schools. I really want to get into UCLA and I hope I dont get rejected. Like some of you may know, this is a fairly new major at UCLA but it has gotten harder each year. I really hope they go easy on all of us at least this year and we can get accepted. they are only recommending not required to take 6 courses unlike next year where it will be a requirement, I hope GPA wont be that high like econ, like 3.6 is ok and up does anyone have info on this? How hard is it to get in? Its "preglobal studies" at UCLA so they should give everyone who deserves it a chance, men that major of business econ is just insanely hard so many qualified people and they get rejected. I think that global studies will be like this in a few years to come, it would have been nice to have applied the year it began it was very easy to get in. good luck to everyone!

I don't think the UC's are going easy on anyone this year. Have you heard about the CA budget crisis? This means that there will be more pressure on the UC's than in any recent year because who might have chosen private colleges in the past will choose a UC this year. And the system as a whole is taking fewer freshmen.

So keep your fingers crossed, but have backup plan because this will be a tough, tough year.

helo everyone else? sure sounds like global studies at UCLA as a TRANSFER STUDENT might not be as competitive as they make it out to be. It might be tough but maybe this year will be just fine, I really want to get in and with the lack of global studies people on this forum it makes me think that the major doesnt attract people that much yet. thats oright I wish all of you luck with whiever major you have

men is it because this is not a global studies year at UCLA but I am trying to ask myself? why so competitive?? I hardly see any GS major on this forum, men I hope no competition this year and lower GPA, last year the average was 3.72 and its a fairly new major. oright guys good luck

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i dont no how you think UCLA will go easy on you this year. absolutley not. just because not many people on this board are taking global studies does not mean no one is. UCLA is hard to get into to begin with. throw on top of that an economic depression and its recipe for a disaster. anyways im going to University of South Carolina for international studies, the same thing different name, and its a lot easier to get into plus very generous with financial aid
