Yeah, I ended up getting into my original top choice (U Michigan) so I'm not gonna go to MSU anymore...

So you're choosing UM, even though they don't even have your major? Over MSU, which has your major?

That's weird, I didn't even apply to schools (actually I did, but as just safeties that i'm not considering) that didn't have my major. But hey, the Michigan name is great, and you may change your mind in a year or two.

Congrats on your decision.

Well, here's my thought process:

I could go to MSU and do undergrad planning, but I'm going to go to grad school no matter what. So, I can go to Michigan, have the better name, and study a broader social science (like sociology) and feel my way through what I want to do. If it ends up being urban planning for sure, then I can go to a planning grad program.

I didn't apply to schools that didn't have a major I was interested in (namely animal science or zoology). General biology programs with few electives just don't cut it for me. Since I think I want to be a vet, I wanted a strong foundation with lots of options.

I'm going to MSU. =)

That's really all I have to say.

I'm with thelarson..... I WANTED a Genetics major... so I'm going to state!

Although I totally see Tyler's (HauckT) perspective.... if he has to go to grad school anyways, he might as well get a broader undergrad degree. But state is still much better and far less pretentious (don't know or care if that's spelled right).

Actually, that's one of the big reasons why I'm going to State. Of the campuses I visited, my favorites were Indiana University and Michigan State. Personally, I think I liked Indiana's campus (on a superficial level) a little bit better. I loved the architecture and I went in fall so it was EXTRA pretty. For quite a while, I was leaning toward going to IU. But... pretentious, from what I hear (and what I kinda saw from the few students I met during my visit), I got the feeling IU is definitely that. I didn't get that vibe any of the 3 times I've been at MSU. So, that's where I'm going.
