<p>I should mention that I am an Illinois resident; applying CAS/Bienen undecided/music education on clarinet; legacy MANY, many times over at NU (both parents, two grandparents, more). And yes, I know my GPA is abysmal.</p>

<p>YEs, your GPA is very low for NU, but as a legacy applying ED (and with some unusual ECs), you will still have a shot.

<p>Last year, the legacy admit rate was (I think) 36% compared to 18% in total. Anecdotally only, of the kids I know going to NU, 4 (including my son) are legacies, and 3out of the 4 (also including my son) are double-legacies. Heck, I probably know your parents :-). If you’re interested, I STRONGLY suggest that you play the legacy card in ED. I would also leverage the heck out of your NU connections in the “why NU” essay and really show them that you know and understand the campus and what makes the NU experience uniquely NU.
