<p>agree with what pookdogg and sidewinder have to say. Stanford may have a better rep than Cal, but in terms of academics and research, I would say that these two institutions are relatively the same. </p>
<p>to sum it all up, consider this: (Berkelium, Californium and Seaborgium). All found at Cal which I believe has a lot to say about their academics/reasearch and their prestige.</p>
<p>"on the other hand, the same can be said about berkeley bashing stanford. I really don't know why but berkeley students seems to be "inferior" to stanford students and as a result, bashing starts. The opposite never happens. " What world do you live in? The opposite is always happening. I agree that the people who bash are more likely to be the ones with the lowest level of security, so they constantly try to rationalize their position in the world.</p>
<p>if it happens, it will happen to a degree way smaller. Berkeley tries to bash at Stanford every chance that they get. I have seen that a lot during their open houses or other events. however, i could be a little wrong about the opposite case.</p>
<p>i also do note that big state schools tend to have a lot more school pride than their private counterparts, and berkeley is included among this group.</p>
