(Going for Ivies, Stanford, MIT, etc.) Should I retake the SAT?

Hi,
I got a 2400 on the October SAT this year. But I heard that many colleges reject over 70% of 2400s because it increases their statistics of selectiveness (like the statistic I just mentioned).
Also some of my friends told me that admissions counselors will think I'm trying too hard and have no life (the logic is that I would have to spend all day every day studying for the SAT to get a 2400, which makes sense I guess).

Should I retake and go for a 2390 or 2380?

Thanks.

Is this a joke?

Nope.
http://i./gzfGcuv.png is the picture from my CB account.

Seriously though, I am pretty sure I can get a 2390 if I try again. It makes sense though, right? An admissions counselor wants to get unique individuals who don’t spend their entire lives on test scores.

Definitely retake. In fact, the schools you mentioned reject everyone with a perfect 2400, no matter what. They really don’t want to see people who either through natural or earned ability score well on the SAT. I would advocate taking it again and aiming for the national average so that colleges don’t reject you for being overqualified, which happens so often.

Don’t be a ■■■■■.

Honestly, if I was an admissions officer, I’d probably reject you simply for retaking a 2400.

wow …is this a ■■■■■ thread? People are working their ____ off just to score in 2000s and this guy is retaking SAT because he ‘thinks’ that he will get rejected because he scored a 2400.
Infact wimmiett you are right, dragginnov get a 1500 (national average) and then try getting into MIT, Stanford etc, your chances are pretty good if you score near about that range.

Don’t worry people, this isn’t even a ■■■■■, just a kid so proud of his 2400 that he’ll go and shout about it at every place he can find. I really wanna see where your 2400 will get you with that attitude, and I sincerely hope that you are among those 70%.

This is a hilarious thread!!

dragoninnov… I wont tell you anything because if I do: I will get banned from this forum…

How do you see the image? All I see are stars?

You should aim for 600.

and by 600 he means 200,200,200

ivanov2014 don’t get worked up man. 600 is a good idea tho.

Bro, if you think you’ll get into Stanford without at least a 2500…

If I were an admissions officer, I’d be impressed by an applicant who submitted two perfect scores:

A perfect 2400

AND

a perfectly abysmal 600.

dragoninnov
Absolutely. Do NOT submit a 2400 to top schools (except Harvard, Harvard likes 2400s). Stanford has been known to deny 2400s so if I were you, I’d get about a 2340ish. Score choice to hide your 2400. Yes, people on here will think you’re crazy, but you’re very wise for noticing.

everyone should really just chill…maybe we’re angry because we didn’t score that high. let’s just pretend this is “real” and give him advice.

in all honesty, it doesn’t matter. it just boosts your chances is all. make sure you have extracurricular activities on the side as well and excel in other things. no one cares about a perfect 2400 if there is nothing else along with it

I am not getting angry as i didn’t score that much, its just that he should look where he posts this, people are working very hard to score 2100s and this guy just posts so casually like 2400s no big deal and if people ‘advise’ him he can get a 2390 also,
dude look where you are posting, if u wanna ask this just don’t sound so modestly worried about it.

Reason would suggest that I attribute this post to a ■■■■■ but then again, humanity is pretty stupid.

Ouuuchhh…!!^
