How important do you think it is to go to a school that's well known and recognized (with a good reputation), as far as getting a good job in the future? I'm debating between Lycoming College (that no one has ever heard of) and Penn State (starting out at a branch college and then transferring to the main campus my junior year), and I'm sort of leaning towards Penn State because it is well known. But is that a stupid reason?

A better question would be which of these two schools would be a better fit for you and what you want to do? If you are going into a profession where the alumni association and all of its contacts is crucial then choose Penn State. If you are the type that learns better in small environment then choose Lycoming.

When it comes down to it in terms of name recognition all people really respond to are Harvard, Yale, Princeton and any Big Ten/PAC 10, etc. football school. Don't base your school choice on the perceptions of others.
