Hey. I am from Florida, and I will be going to Brown. I have a couple of friends that will be going to school in Massachusetts, specifically Boston. I would like to visit them sometimes. I was wondering what is the cheapest, quickest way to get to Boston. I know the Amtrak line is about a $24 round trip. But, I don’t know how reliable this is. I would hate trying to come back to Brown one evening and get stuck in Boston, or something crazy like that. Is there like a student discount of some sort? (I also want to go to Boston for music shows)

There's something called like "Student Advantage" which is some card you pay for that gives you a discount. You could also try getting a multi-ride pass for the commuter rail which is cheaper, but the scheduling might not work out.

Also, you'll probably visit your friends a lot less than you think.

there is a commuter train to boston for $7 one way, and the peter pan bus with frequent trips as well

From what I've experienced you will visit more at first then become busy with school and will make a new group of friends and see them less often. Convenience.

True, time to see my friends will dwindle away. But it would be great to have a different place to get away to, let us say for a day or two.

i "visited a friend" from high school in boston when i first started college, ended up dating and then marrying her.

anyway, i did the commute to boston from providence thing a lot and it is very doable.

wow how old are you dcircle?
