Hello everyone! I am new here, been lurking for a while. I just had a question. I go to a local community college and I have never been to either summer session I or II. This year I want to take at least one class each session. Which classes do you recommend to take in the summer? I want something I can handle and that will be easy because I have a 4.0 at the moment and would hate to ruin it. Also, I work FULL TIME from 9-5:30 Monday thru Friday, what do you all think? Thanks in Advance.

I don't work but I do plan on going to school during the summer. I plan on taking Espanol I and II, and then maybe art as the last elective I will need. Take some electives.

O.k. here is a dumb question that I have been meaning to ask, I know I should just go talk to a counselor but I don't have alot of time to actually go to the school right now. I just wanted to know what exactly are electives or what would qualify as an elective if I most probably will be majoring in pyschology? Are electives just like kinesiology and arts classes?

Think about taking a class online if it is kosher. You have to be super organised to take a class online and do a little work every day.

^ Or so I have been told

Or, think about taking the old standbys of Freshman History _______ Part One and Part Two. Those are not super hard at all, you basically outline the chapters and take notes, eh?

There are lot of those old standby classes one can take. I personally would not do the maths or foreign language unless you just have a burning desire to learn either subject on the quick. That is just my opinion.

Now what is an elective to you? That is something which would be in your CC catalogue or something you could e mail your academic advisor about.

I plan on taking my remaining gen eds in the summer. I know Geography is one of them, and I have to take whatever equivalent of Ethics I would have because I dropped that class. We also have something called integrative classes at our school and I have yet to take any of them, so I will probably take the 100 level integrative this summer as well.

Next summer I have one psych class I know I will be taking, possibly also one of the remaining integratives. I also know that I have the option of a night class running alongside student teaching, and I'm not afraid to take 18 credits if I know one class will be really easy.

Online classes can be very easy depending on the class. Right now I am taking intro to internet. Simple class do all the work on the day its due submit it and get an A. But if you take something like Physics 2 online you will probably be very screwed.

Electives are classes that have nothing to do with the gen ed requirement or your degree just classes you find interesting.

As far as a language course during the summer I wouldn't if you have no experience with the language. A language class goes at a much faster pace then during the regular term so it may be hard to keep up.
