Going to fail cal 2, comp sci major

So I applied for UC admission this fall, and about to failing the CAL 2 class, because I was to concentrate in the chemistry. I spent too much time on chemistry and biology and my other class, I basically have no time study for math. I am taking 21 units right now.
So If I fail the Cal 2 and retake during the spring 2013, get A.
Will UCs still consider me????
My after fall GPA will be 3.25 if I fail the math.
Thank you, please help me !!!

Unfortunately, UCs don’t look at spring semester grades of the year of intended enrollment during the admissions process.
Seeing as the application due date already passed, I hoped you wrote a really compelling argument as to why you failed Calc 2 in your personal statements or additional comments section (21 units, etc.)
Doing your best to not fail is my best advice. Good luck.

I’m sorry, but UC’s will only look at your fall grades and do not consider retakes after the fall semester you apply…

So what is the possibility they will consider me? or should I just apply next year?
They don’t even care about my 3.25 GPA anymore when they saw a F, and they don’t care if I am going to retake it during spring?
And should write a explanation to UCs and tell them I am going to retake that class during spring
Thank you so much

It’s definitely worth applying, with a 3.25 you’ll have a chance at some of the mid-tier/lower tier UCs. You may have a chance at UCM, UCR, UCSC, and maybe UC Davis. It’s going to hurt you because it’s a major requirement, but your GPA will still have you considered at some of the UC’s. I just wouldn’t expect to get into Berkeley, UCLA, or UCSD.

What you can do is apply anyways, if you get rejected, appeal showing that you have achieved an ‘A’ in the class. I don’t know when the appeal deadline is. I think it is sometime in June but I don’t know for sure. Appeals RARELY get approved.

Anyways, the bottom line is you shouldn’t be failing it. Even if you retake it and achieve an A, there are no guarantees. The good thing is, even if you do get rejected, you can still apply next year and they will for sure take into account the ‘A’ you achieved. The bad thing is, if you retake the class and don’t get an A, that will look really bad. Good luck!

Does there some people who got a F during fall, but still got accepted to like at least UCI?
Thank you

If there is any chance whatsoever that you can slip out with the lowest C grade ever given, you need to take it. Consult your prof, counselor(s), anyone and see whether they can do anything for you.

Which schools did you apply to and what did you put as your alt. majors?

I applied for computer science alter is Software Engineering. and I applied to Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences.
thank you:)

Did you TAG?

I didn’t do tag because I didnt have 30 units after summer.
That is why I am taking 21 units this semester to meet with 60 units requirement.

I don’t think your chances are very good for CS at UCI with a 3.25 GPA, cramming most of your units (and likely important pre-reqs) into your last few terms, and having failed Calc 2 once. The UC’s don’t like you cramming a lot of units in Spring just to make the 60 unit requirement because they won’t see those grades prior to them making their decision. They especially don’t like it if you haven’t proven you can handle that workload, that’s where failing a pre-req looks bad.

How many units will you have next spring?

Next Spring
repeating the Cal 2 and chemistry 2 +Java class
like around 15 units.
