Going to Rutgers Out of State

Hi, I’m currently a high school senior in Seattle and I want to study engineering. I’m trying to apply to a few other schools just in case I don’t get in to UW (my state school). I would apparently qualify for a $6,000 scholarship at rutgers according to a net price calculator. My parents would be able to pay for it but what I wanted to know is how is the out of state student scene there? Cause I looked it up and apparently 93% of the school is NJ residents. Would I feel out of place being from Seattle. Also how does it match up to schools like Purdue, Penn State, WPI, RPI in engineering. Are there good job offers/internships? Thanks a lot! And money isn’t an issue with the scholarship and FA.

Rutgers has long been known as being the most diverse university in the country. I think you will meet all kinds of people there. Even if the people are “from New Jersey” in terms of residency that doesn’t mean they were all originally born in New Jersey or that they’re identical somehow.

The university is in the Bosnywash (Boston, New York, Washington DC) metro region, where you can travel to places with even more diversity and people originating from all over the USA and world. You might enjoy taking weekends to explore some new places that you can’t easily get to living in Seattle.
