Going to "Yale" university.

Hi, I am a sophomore student which is going to be a junior very soon. Unfortunately, English wasn't my first langauge and I've attend English speaking school when I was already in 7th grade. Also, I'm considered as an average student in term of studies in tha past two years of high school, and I'd like to improve my educational profiles, includes my report card. This year I've been successful in running for an office in my school's council, and I'm pushing myself hard to join AP class for Economic and honors for English and Physic. (My current high school did not provide me a lot of different challenging class, through.) I'd like to know if it is possible for me to apply for Yale university or not, since it has been sort of my dream college for undergraduate. May I know if what are those of requirements for students (out-of-state and not a native English speaker), which I knew it is not an easy task to get accepted to Yale (even for high-profiled native US. citizen) However, I'd like to know if there comes any area which I should improve myself to get ready for the university. Thank you very much & I'd hope for all of your success.

Yes, anyone can apply. But if you are truly just an average student, Yale is probably not a realistic option for you. Have you taken the SAT or ACT? Subject Tests (two of which are required unless you send the ACT)?

I concur with Silverturtle. When I give presentations, I say that if the teachers and the principle know you to be one of the handful of top academic students at your school, then you’re probably viable. If not, then not.

Average academic students don’t stand any chance of admissions. Outstanding students barely have a chance. And it’s not about your elected office or English proficiency. That’s just how it is.

There’s no benefit for being a non native English speaker. Even international students have to pass english exams and have high english SAT/TOEFL exam scores. If you go to an english school and are average, then your chances may not be so good, unless you have something spectacular.
