<p>What’s the normal GPA cutoff to get an invite? Didn’t do too well freshman year, but got honors both semesters last year. Guess they only look at overall GPA?</p>
<p>I’m not sure about the GPA cutoff, but invitees are at the top 15% of their class, I think.</p>
<p>Although it says top 15% of my class, my friend who has a higher GPA than I didn’t get an invite.</p>

<p>It says from the email that Berkeley nominates you for membership in the honor society.</p>

<p>Do they take your major or school into account when giving invitations? If not, wouldn’t that make it unfair for students in low-GPA majors?</p>

<p>I got the invite early this year (at ANU in Australia) and joined to see what it was like. So far, it’s been pretty useless. They do offer scholarships, but it’s a very small amount being given back to students, especially considering the cost of membership fees. Also, the scholarship applications are pooled so you’re competing with students from universities all over the world for most awards. </p>
<p>It could depend on which college you go to, but the group that runs GK at mine is pretty dodgy. There are very few events and the events they do have are just boring or badly organised. </p>
<p>There are international conferences though, and supposedly it’s good if you do business, economics, commerce, etc.</p>

I don’t think “they’ll actually announce that we’re graduating with honors at graduation,” but I’m not sure.
It does show on official transcript and on the diploma, however.
