I'm applying to Swarthmore, Pomona, UPenn, Brown, Amherst and WashU...
I got a 32 on the ACT. Is that bad/good/mediocre for these schools?
I'm really not sure on this - just wanted a bit of feedback.
Thanks :)

That's going to be near average to slightly above average for accepted students at those schools

it wont hinder ure chances but wont help u either

I agree. Typical for those schools, not positive or negative.

bump bumppp bump

mediocre .

I definitely wouldn't call a 32 mediocre...

Most look like about the 60%tile. Amherst you're probably above that.

Well it depends. All those adcoms will be much more forgiving of an ACT submission from someone in the midwest or south. From a New Englander, they'll ask. "why didn't s/he take the SAT?" At WashU I assume they have more applicants submitting the ACT from your region, and competition may be stiffer. I assume Amherst gets the least ACT submitters from that group (could be wrong?) but I doubt a 32 is in the 60th percentile for any of the schools, though I'd say those scores won't keep you out of any of them. It's a good, solid score. Focus on other things.

The ranges on those schools together will be between 28 and 34 (middle 50%)...for example, Penn's middle 50% is 31-34. That said, their average score will be right around 32. You're average to slightly above average for accepted students...don't worry
