Of course there is no one best American Cultures course or else everyone would choose that course, but what are some American Cultures courses that people generally agree are good to take? Please mention if the teachers associated with these AC courses would be the reason why these courses are considered good. I'm asking because my CalSO is coming up soon, and I want to have a firm idea of what courses I'll need to take, even tho I'll prob phase 2 the AC course I end up choosing. Thanks!

I heard IB 35ac is very interesting if you want to take a more science based ac.

I took ethnic studies 10ac with Prof. Montejano…good curriculum. We used a book by the world-renowned Prof. Takaki. It gave me a twist on the history I learned in HS.

Music 26AC was good too. Not too much reading (not that you have to do it anyway), but you do broaden the knowledge of American music while learning the history of it. This class is offered only in spring semester and the instructors are almost always different, but it is a nice and easy class.

Ah, thanks for your input so far guys. Keep them coming!

I second the three already mentioned because I’ve heard good things about them. Then I’ll add ESPM 50AC which is considered very easy, and Anthro 2AC with Prof. Lightfoot. Lightfoot is the main reason why I liked the course. The course material itself is not extraordinarily interesting depending on what you’re into.

Well, I’m most likely going to take an American Cultures course now, but I still haven’t decided for sure which course to take because of all the plentiful options. There seems to be a lot of interesting ones, but is there one course a lot of people can reach a general consensus on regarding the course’s enjoyability?

Also, should I take the AC course I pick for the letter grade? I don’t really care too much about the AC course’s difficulty as long as it’s fun, but it’d be nice if I didn’t have to worry about my grade while in it.

So I’m taking Theater 25AC this summer. What do you guys who have already taken the class think about it? I’m taking it with Baron, M R, and I can’t find his review on Google.
