I'm trying to decide if I want to live on or off campus next year. A group of us wants to room together and aren't sure if our priority numbers are good enough to get into the on-campus apartment style halls. Are there any nice apartments within EASY walking distance to campus? Ideally, we'd like a 4 bedroom, but could get a 2 bedroom and each share a room. We also want one that's furnished. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check out any of the University Village apartments, or Whitehall…all on Call Street.

Are you currently in FSU housing or are you going to be a freshman next year?

I’m a freshman living on campus.

If your priority numbers aren’t great, then putting roommate as your priority might not get you into McCollum at all. There’d be a decent chance, sure, but spaces do fill quickly.
The easiest way then for you and your friends to all get assigned to the same apartment next year on campus would be to all register for McCollum next year, and put the hall as your priority, THEN ask Housing if it is possible to place all of you together. And yes, I did say easiest.

Housing’s advice in that situation pretty much is “it’s easier to move you together within the hall, than it is to move you together from different halls” so if you guys all got McCollum, at the very least it would work.

However, I would not put my eggs in that basket. There’s no guarantee that way that you would all end up rooming together.

I agree with torioreo: I’d probably start looking into Whitehall and other apartments located along Call Street.

Thanks for the info! Any idea how early we should start looking to secure one (off-campus apt) for next fall?
