Hi, I am looking to buy my nephew, a freshman, a gift for his bday. I was thinking of getting him a game to play on the quad, like spikeball, bottle bash, bucket ball, kan jam (all games I’ve seen on amazon). I was hoping to get some input on games that college kids really do play, or would play if they had them. Any input on the ones I’ve listed, or suggestions for other games? Or maybe games on the quad is a bad idea in general? He doesn’t spend much time in his room, and likes to hang out with his friends outside.
Maybe something easy to use and smaller to store like a frisbee? If you want to spend more you could add a gift card to Amazon or a store/restaurant near campus.
My college kid likes to throw a football and play basketball with his friends. If that’s like your nephew maybe a ball from the school’s bookstore with the logo?
College kids definitely play spikeball and cornhole too. You can get cornhole boards/bags personalized with the school logo. A frisbee is a classic item that all kids seem to universally love.
Thanks for the input.
I think his friends already have a frisbee, football and the basics, so I was looking for something to add variety. I might go for the spikeball or cornhole.
Spikeball is very popular in my D’s friend group and I see kids playing all the time in my college town.
Agree 100% with Spikeball - even my older son at West Point says they play it when the have some (limited) free time.
Give him cash or a gift card. Every college student can always use some extra dough.
Spikeball. My HS senior and his friends play it all the time (even in the snow).
Another idea would be a nylon hammock like an Eno. Those seem pretty popular too, and are very compact for tight dorm spaces when not in use.
Yes, we are giving him some cash in a bday card, but he loves to have a present to unwrap too, so was hoping to give him something else too. I think I’m going to go with the spikeball, along with the bday card with cash.
