Good Books for College Success?

Dear All,

Does anyone have any suggestions for good books about college life, academic success, etc? Maybe some that deal with time management, budget appropriations, and study tips?

Best.

I liked "How to Win at College" by Cal Newport

I just came across Cal Newport's blog, has pretty interesting stuff. Google study hacks and it should be the first thing that comes up

I've heard "How to ace your way through college and still have a life" is good

@Everyone: Thanks for the suggestions! I will definitely check out Cal Newport's book/blog and "Ace". Anyone else?

omg
those are the books i have and LOVE!
kennedy's how to ace...etc. is very practical and very informative.
newport's how to win..etc. is very nicely written, and gives a lot of examples to help you better understand his advices.
both are awesome books!!! worth every penny.

I'd pick up some stuff by Dale Carnegie. It's old, and it's not directed at college, but the general lessons in his books are invaluable no matter what you're doing.

I heard that "how to kick ass in college" is pretty good.

Um... A book for college success... what the?

Lol.. Too bad I bought this book a little too late, but it has great study tips and ways to manage your time. "How To Become A Straight-A Student" by Cal Newport.

Has anyone read Getting the Best Out of College?

I’m looking at “How to win at college” and “How to become a straight A student.” From what I’ve heard, they’re both pretty much about academic success and finding the right balance between academics and social life. Are they different or do they have a lot in common? because the latter was published 1 year after the first one, so I suspect the latter to be just sort of a newer version of the 1st. Is this true or not? would you recommend buying both?

also, are there a lot of differences between his blog “Study Hacks” and the 2 books? should I buy the books at all or just the blog is enough?

thanks!

Make sure to get “The College Student’s Guide to the Law” by CL Lindsay. It does a pretty good job of explaining to you your legal rights (regardless of which type of university you attend) and how to apply them in dealing with common college issues.
