Well, it is selective, though it’s likely known more for football. When magazines put together their misguided “college rankings,” they have a peer review section, in which Notre Dame has a much lower score than those around it, likely because those in academia tend to view religious schools as inferior (especially in research and the sciences), so the elite of academia don’t seem to want us in their ranks.</p>
<p>Football? Knute and Ara and Lou were great coaches but they are truly ancient history. It’s going on 20 seasons since there’s been any consistency of winning, but hope is eternal. Navy only managed 3 outta 4 against the NDU powerhouse. Shoulda been 4 but throw the dog a bone once in awhile. ;)</p>
<p>I doubt that peer review has anything to do with being a religious institution. It’s more likely a function of lack of production in measures they are measured in. And maybe a football team living on its legacy? :eek:</p>
