Hi everyone I am a freshman who just started school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. So far everything has been going great and I really glad that I chose this school to attend. I have been making a decent amount of friends in the past month or so. However, I feel like that I would join a few student organizations in the second semester of 2015-2016 academic year(I missed the student org fair this semester). The main purpose that I want to join a few clubs is that I would like to get to know more people and expand my social network here on campus. Do you guys who have been at this school for a while have any recommendations for student orgs that are very useful to meeting my needs? I would appreciate any suggestion and it would be great if you guys can introduce me some super social organizations.
- Fraternity/Sorority. You’ll meet some of your best friends and have an instant support system/support network at college.
- Any team. Sports team, mock trial team, debate team, etc. The competitions usually bring everyone closer together than in a normal club.
I’m friends with people from my other EC’s, but I met my best friends through Mock Trial and Greek Life (as well as the people on my floor). EC’s that take up a lot of time typically bring people closer together.
i’m not familiar with the club/org that you can join in wisconsin-madison, but I believe it’s the same with other universities. my suggestion is first, join the org of your course. basically, all of the members can share their experience on your course, with that you can relate with their stories. second, you can join a club wherein you think you’ll be happy on your stay in college, you can try the school’s cheerleading team, or outdoor club. it’s good to have a club on your stay in college, cause it’s a stress reliever, we should not just focus on studying, balance it. good luck!
