Has anyone discovered any great music while at college?

My roomate last year introduced me to Cassie and Mya. Over the summer one of my friends FINALLY got me to listen to some of his techno (We also went to a club that played a lot of techno) and i’ve gained a healthy respect for it.

Unless you don’t listen to music period, I don’t see how you can not discover music you like while you’re at college.

I totally got into the EDM scene when I got to college. I had never even heard of house or dubstep or any of that till I got here. Now I’m sooo in love with it and I feel like I appreciate all music more. I go to a lot of concerts and shows now too, and I never really would have cared much about that before college. I feel like it helped me find my niche at college too.

word, i also got into EDM/raves in college.
also @ post #2, not all EDM is techno. a lot of people who talk about “techno” haven’t heard techno. it’s not very popular compared to other electronic music (sub)genres (read: house and dubstep) and i doubt anyone would hear it unless they went to a rave that played it or actively seeked it out

I met one guy who had some pretty awesome music.

Everyone else on campus has THE CRAPPIEST MUSIC EVER MADE.

dave matthews and bob marley, brah!

definitely. i discovered katy perry, jason derulo, and like a g6.

What do you mean “college music”?

There’s the current electronica/dubstep fad.
There’s always Top 40, aka house party music.
There’s jam bands like Dave Matthews and Phish.
There’s generic-sounding rock (often referred to as “college rock”)
There’s hip-hop
There’s underground stuff of all genre

etc

Lol thanks RioBravo that was really ****ing illuminating.
