I searched around but couldn't really find any good information. Can anyone provide me with some other good college search and info sites? I am trying to find something that will substitute actually visiting some schools as some are just way too far away to get to.

I actually didn't notice those. Thanks for letting me know, they are great. I was hoping for something a little more in-depth and would also like opinions from many sources, if anyone knows any other resources, please post them.

Wow, the DVD tour would be cool, but don't really want to pay for all the separate DVDs. Are there any good sites with videos like that at all the colleges? I think I am going to do the US News service. Thanks Chedva.

I have always like Princeton Review's counselor -o - matic. After you find schools that interest you, you can check out their websites for online DVDs. Collegeweeklive.com comes out with online virtual college fairs twice a year and has reps from the schools (students and admission people) you can chat with online. Check out their site.

My kids have found the student comments and the stats on Princeton Review to be very valuable. PR has its detractors, but the comments represent viewpoints from a number of students. It seems to me a lot more defensible than the single-student viewpoint you're likely to get from Aunt Betty's neighbor's friend. But what the heck is with the new PR website format? I can't find my way around it, you must remember to click on "Colleges" to input the name of a school and go to that review, and it doesn't recognize "William Mary" in the search box for the College of William and Mary!

^^ I also don't like that there isn't Counselor-o-matic anymore :(
(or I just can't find it??) It seems like they count the "fit" based on GPA+SAT scores only?! :/

EDIT: Woops, never mind. Found it :P But I still find it hard to get around the site. Too crammed with pics, but pretty. Maybe I just need some time to get used to it...

Has collegiate tours updated their dvd/videos? I know some were a couple of years old when I bought them 2 years ago. Things do change and a "free computer" or "building a new complex" can be old news or changed.

This site (from admissionsadvice.com) seems very promising....I just hope it isn't just the top 50 schools, but it's a great idea and a compliment to other research.

There is a good bunch of information on Yahoo answers about colleges. Select category Education - Higher Education (University) and search for schools you are interested in.
