I'm currently a junior in high school, class of '08, just starting to look into colleges, and looking to study something in Political Science, or more specifically International Relations.
I've a 3.76 GPA unweighted, and a 4.3 weighted.
I've yet to take the SATs (May 5th) but my PSAT scores project a score somewhere around 2000.
I've taken a total of 3 APs so far, and am taking 4 this year, and any courses I have taken that are not AP courses have been honors courses, with the exception of electives.
I am heavily involved in my school's drama program, something that takes up a good majority of my time, and spent 2 years on the color guard team.
Beyond that however, my extra curriculars are incredibly limited, due to my having to drop all after school activities my sophomore year in order to take care of my father. This fact worries me slightly that it may effect my chances in getting into a school that may not see me as well rounded. So I have two questions:
1. In the year or so I have left, what activities should I participate in to boost my extra curriculars?
2. What colleges with good programs in International Relations do I stand a chance of getting into?

Not having many EC's because you are caring for your father shouldn't hurt you IF you explain in the Additional Info section of the application and/or your guidance counselor explains it in his/her recommendation. Also, if you've genuinely come to realize something about yourself because of your experience with your father, that could make a good essay topic.
