I am planning to apply to Duke this November. The math score surprised me since I consider it my strongest subject. I am retaking the test in a few days. My question is: is this score still good enough for Duke? I am hoping to earn a 32 or above on the math portion in the next test and I am aiming for a 34 composite.

Sure that score is good enough, but will by no means help you get in. It wont hurt you either, but at a school like duke only a 36 or 35 can really be seen as a true boost in my opinion, while 32-34 wont hurt or help and lower than 32 will definitely hurt. However, people get rejected from Duke with ACT scores higher than yours. The bottom line is that the score IS good enough, but I would definitely aim for a 34, but wouldn’t worry too much if you dont get it the one point higher

I am also planning on applying to duke in November and will be taking the April ACT. Best of luck, and hope to see you in fall 2015!

I got a 34, and got admitted to Duke as an AB Scholar Finalist. I know friends from last year who had a higher ACT than me that got rejected. Honestly, don’t stress to much about it :)
