I've tried going on yelp for suggestions but it is rather overwhelming with so many results to sort through.

I have access to a car but don't want to spend 45+ minutes driving just to eat out so nothing significantly more than several miles away from UCLA. I'd be open to take-out, restaurants, or whatever for a larger variety of places to eat.

Not sure what you like so here are a couple of my favs,

Westwood: In N Out, Gushi, Fat Sals, Bella Pita, Tenryouan,
Santa Monica: Bay Cities Deli (REALLY good sandwiches)
13 minute drive -> Santouka Ramen (its in a japanese food court), Uncle Ced’s Hot Dog Stand
Indonesian (and close): Simpang Asia, Ramayani
Take out: Siam Chan (Thai, best place near westwood at least)

The Grove: Great food at the farmer’s market and its close: brazillian, cajun, malaysian, American etc.

Ktown: korean bbq…there is a cheap like $10 place (sanya) or if you want better quality/variety, Tahoe
Jtown: is a little far…but great ramen/udon/sushi (Daikokya or Orochon)

I actually go to all the restaurants above by blue bus or metro but its nice to have a car.

If you’re willing to drive to Monterey park…
: The Hat (GREAT pastrami), Savoy Kitchen, Diem sum (Ocean star), pho (please don’t get it in westwood or in hollywood…the good stuff is always around $5-6)

I have only tried Langer’s from beyphy’s list. Its far but it will probably be one of the best pastrami sandwhiches you’ll ever have. Only thing is that its pricey and only open at lunch. And yeah, Bella Pita is amazing, healthy, and cheap.

Anyway, sorry for the wall of text. I hope that helped and have good time eating!

oh fuuck, i forgot about Mr. Ramen. It’s the most legit ramen place in little tokyo. Also forgot about East Side Market Italian Deli (it’s by china town) it’s NOT as good as langers (east side is maybe an 8/10, whereas langers is a 9/10) but it IS half the price. And i personally feel like the price difference more than makes up for the quality difference.

also, pinks is cool if you don’t mind standing in line. Chilli addiction is where you go if you want the best hot-dog you’ve ever had in your life (made fresh daily, who makes fresh hotdogs??)

Enzo’s has really good pizza. I like the Counter (burger place) in Santa Monica. Tacos la Flama at Barrington and Pico is good, though there are probably tons of Mexican places on the Westside that are about the similar quality. The Stand (hot dogs) in Westwood is pretty good, as is Sandbags (sandwiches)
