This is my tentative list for grad schools I am interested in applying to in order to earn my MM in Music Education and/or Voice/Opera performance
Peabody Institute
Yale College of Music
Hartt School
Manhattan School of Music
NEC
University of Maryland
Eastman School of Music
Boston University
SUNY Purchase
Bard Conservatory
NYU Steinhardt
Westminster Choir College
I am looking for opinions on the quality of the voice programs and professors as well as a general overview of how competitive each grad program is- which ones are easiest/hardest to get into
Thanks!
You have a good list of reputable schools. For grad school, an acceptance at any of these schools will be competitive. I think a list from easiest to hardest could be irrelevant as you don’t know the needs of the particular dept year-to-year (meaning they may have plenty of sopranos and tenors yet be desperate for a few mezzos and a baritone).
I can’t really comment on any school or professor listed (and its not encouraged to discuss professors on a public forum). Maybe others will PM you if you have a more specific question on a particular school.
Otherwise it’s a good list; and you could use peers/current teachers to get a “read” on each music program and professors to see what would match your criteria for a grad school.
