Good housing for a grad student?

Hey guys, I'm considering UVa's medical school next year. I know threads are usually about the undergrad, but if anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it!

What are some popular places for grad students to live? I'm considering the Woodlands, which has a shuttle to campus at set times. However, if I wanted to get to campus at another time, would there be a bus I could take? If I drove, in what garages / lots would I have to park? If transportation is limited, I might have to live within walking distance.

Transportation is going to be generally limited past midnight on weekdays, 2am on weekends. I suggest, personally, living closer in. There’s a parking garage but it’s only open to visitors. I always see lots of medical students on the buses, and walking around, so the main areas I think they’d live in are either Madison Ln area (Ashtree, Oxford Hills, Cambridge Square) or along JPA. There’s a condo place literally right behind the hospital too, as a couple of other places that you could look at. Those areas are pretty quiet, I have a friend living in that area right now (Monroe Ln and Brandon Ave)
I don’t suggest living near the Corner, it can get loud, but there are some Med school students always walking around there, even in my building, so maybe…
