plus do i need to have a bike? or should i use my car?

foothill, stern, and bowles are the closest dorms. a car is more of a burden than a help getting around campus.

Not to mention the university does not allow you to have a parking permit unless you live at least 2 miles away from campus. The 2-mile boundary is shown here: http://pt.berkeley.edu/img/lrdp.jpg

Walking or biking would definitely be the best choice, although if you're going to be living in Unit 4, which is at the top of the hill, simply walking may be the best choice. It's not that bad. Also, bike theft is fairly common.

are skateboard prohibited? if they are, does anyone actually stop you from boarding?

You can skate on campus.

Skateboards, scooters, and roller skates are prohibited. They are in fact armed snipers in the clock tower armed with rifles and rubber bullets assigned to take out violators with extreme prejudice.

nothing is prohibited as far as i know...i've even seen a kid ride a unicycle around campus

I've seen him too!

Oddly enough, the unicycle is the only mode of transportation allowed on campus due to intensive lobbying by California's unionized unicycle manufacturing workers.

HOLY WOW, A HISTORIC EVENT! The humor once again emerges, and I give it an A-.
