Good Luck Everyone! Also Question

Good luck to all fellow Stanford RD applicants! Dying of nerves here because RD decisions start to come out today at 3 pm PST…! Anyway, I posted the following question on the service academy forums but no responses yet, and hopefully someone out here can calm my nerves!

I just got this email today from AF Detachment 045–which I have never been in contact with before–and I’m still waiting for news from Stanford (I know news comes out super soon but I am dying of nerves here). I called and left messages for the two flight commanders at the detachment because I am unclear abut what exactly this email means…I’m not sure if it indicates good news, or is just standard practice. Someone help interpret while I wait for response! Here’s the text of the email (it was sent to undisclosed recipients from the Detachment 045 Mailbox and I was bcc’d):

Hello and congratulations on being selected for an Air Force ROTC scholarship. You have shown to be an outstanding candidate for becoming an Air Force Officer. I am writing you because you were offered a scholarship at Stanford, Santa Clara, San Jose State or UC Santa Cruz. I would like to invite you to contact Captain Willis Hudson (willis.hudson@sjsu.edu) our Recruiting Flight Commander or myself if you have any questions. I know many of you are still waiting to receive acceptance letters but feel free to contact us with any questions. Good luck on the upcoming news and continue to study hard as you culminate your high school experience.

Very Respectfully,

Nicholas Carnovale, Capt, USAF

In another thread you indicated that you were awarded the AFROTC scholarship earlier this year. So, this is probably the SJSU pitch to enroll you in their program. AFROTC lets you use your scholarship at any university which is affiliated with it. If you get admitted to Stanford, then you can use it there. If you applied to UCLA and got admitted, you could use it there.

Just remember that if you have a 4-year Type 7 AFROTC scholarship, you will have to convert it to a 3-year Type 2 scholarship in order to use it at Stanford or Santa Clara (and that the 3-year Type 2 does not begin until your sophomore year).

Thanks for the info NROTCgrad! I was awarded the AFROTC scholarship earlier this year, and I’m now pretty sure this was a pitch to get me into the SJSU program.
I got a more detailed letter a few weeks ago from TCU saying that even though I hadn’t applied the AF captain there said he would “see what he could do with admissions” because they were willing to offer me a full ride to TCU. This SJSU email does not sound as detailed, so I’m waiting for responses on specifics from the flight commanders at 045. It might be something similar.
