Finally!!!

I got my appointment on Friday to the AFA. This just goes to show, don’t give up!!! I’m still not going to cancel my AFROTC scholarship until I get there though.

Edit: I deleted that weird emoticon…

Good job getting the appointment. What is the point of not cancelling your ROTC scholarship, though?

Well, I'll wait until I'm there, or until a week before just in case something happens. June 30 is when you report right?

yup, if you request an airline ticket the academy has most people arriving the 29th though... I believe we have to check in by 11am and starting 8am??? not sure

Well, I think I'm getting the packet tomorrow, so I'll find out I suppose.

I'm pretty sure your scholarship is void from the first day of BCT.

Shines: Congratulations ! I am sure you and your parents are proud.

Also, thanks for making a commitment to serve our country.

As an aside, your earlier post indicated that you were retaking your SAT's and hoping to improve your previous 1310 score. Were you able to improve your scores? I ask since there has been so much discussion on this forum about what scores are needed to get a non-recruited athlete appointment.

Congrats on your appointment!!

Not to say it's typical (as it may not be), but I got accepted as a non-intercolleciage athlete with a 1310 SAT (630V 680M).

I did get my score up, but only ten points, so I ended up with a 600 on my math. That was my goal, but I did want to get a little higher.

Your AFROTC scholarship is indeed forfeited by your showing up on June 30 for Inprocessing. Please call the appropriate people and let them know you're going to USAFA. Some other kid out there who applied for and didn't get the scholarship deserves it and the chance to become an officer. It's just not fair for you to take both, particularly when I'm sure you'll excel in Basic (see you there!)

And I'm not trying to be a jerk or a bummer, that's just what someone told me when I wanted to do the same with my ROTC scholarship. Make someone's day.

I'll be sure to remember that when I talk to my ALO this evening
