I am having an amazing year. My mid-year GPA will be at least .5 higher than my last year GPA and at least .35 higher than my cumulative GPA. It is not that I did that bad last year, this year I have two AP histories (my best subject) and AP Stat instead of AP Calc BC (much easier) as well as Anatomy Honors rather than Physics Honors (easier to do well in). Last year it just turned out that I had a lot of classes that it was harder for me to succeed in. I have also won 3 awards this year, with the possibility of winning up to 4 more before decisions come out. Will my increased GPA and these awards make a difference of my chance at acceptance?

yes, they will help you.

yeah same here my midyear is phenomenal

but people here are telling me that its only glanced at, and that they can really only keep you out if ur grades are bad, but wont help you get in.

i dont understand why that would be. if anything your senior grades are more important than your junior grades, so a good one should help and a bad one should hurt.
