The Director of Admissions sent this email to my school counselor (who then forwarded it) so watch your mailboxes! (I got the email this morning).

Dear Colleagues,

The University of Washington (Seattle campus) is producing admission decision letters as I type and will continue to do so throughout the week. Some letters may well be in the mail starting today or tomorrow (a bit earlier than we planned). Many of your students will recieve their letters this week and early next.

As expected (thankfully), admission for resident applicants is better this year than last. We still had to make difficult decisions on the applications of some accomplished students, and I am sure some of you will be encouraging temporarily disappointed kids. However, many more students and families will be pleased compared to last year. Additionally, I think we will have more possibilities for students invited to be on the waitlist this year. In short, it is a good year for resident applicants.

For our colleagues in other states, ths year will be similar to last. i expect the waitlist for our domestic non-resident students to be active as well.

Finally, for those in our counseling community working wit international students, this year will be more selective than last (due to a strong increase in students applying from other countries). We will have a waitlist for international students this year as well. Additionally, the international students residing outside of the U.S. will recieve notice of their admission status via email later this week or early next.

Thank you all for your work in helping students with their transitions to colleges and universities. Allof us at the UW appreciate your commitment and support.

He talked a lot about wait listing for out of state… That sort of scares me. Does anyone know the stats on how many people were wait listed last year?

@StanfordGirl22 I don’t believe he is saying there are going to be more people that are waitlisted because there isn’t enough room for acceptances, but instead, I think he is saying there is more room to be waitlisted instead of being rejected. He’s saying it positively. Last year, around 2,300 people were waitlisted (both resident and non-resident) and less than 400 are offered admission.

@momto4squirts I’ve heard that the uw net id usually stays without any report to your decision status until you’ve recieved the letter.

Thanks so much for sharing this! If I know by the end of the week I’ll be radiating in happiness (assuming the news is good). My boyfriend told me yesterday to set my hopes on being in the last wave of notifications so I don’t get disappointed if it takes a little longer but I’ve never been more excited for a piece of mail in my entire life…

Yay for good news! I don’t think I’m going to make a huge announcement on my FB or anything though because it will just create more anxiety. people are freaking out at my school…anyone else’s?

haha I’m really the only one at my school that is freaking out (which is surprising). UW is my top school and I LOVE seattle it is so different from where i live now and I am super excited to get that mail. i hope hope hope that i get in!! good luck to you guys too :)

Ya I noticed too… Maybe it was just transcribed into cc wrong and not directly copied from the dean’s email.( I wouldn’t think someone would send an email with that many errors)

If any of you end up interacting with people from Student Life, you’ll be shocked at the ridiculous stuff that they send out. C+ skill level in 9th Grade English. It hurt my heart.

@smithc94 @ghuskies@stanfordgirl22@dabober@XaviFm don’t worry, definitely not a fake email. For whatever reason, the email wouldn’t transcribe onto here when I tried to copy and paste. It ended up looking like symbols every time. Maybe it was due to the fact that it was typed in purple text (typical, huh?) so I quickly re-typed it up. Didn’t proofread after so yes, there are a lot of typos! Sorry guys! I’m sure you will realize it isn’t “fake” once someone recieves a letter dated to be from Monday or Tuesday.

Ah I’m sorry!! It goes both ways I suppose. I’m forgetting about ucla and ucsd because even if I do get accepted, I’m not paying $54K to attend. UW is much more accommodating to OOS I feel like :)

I’m from California too!
It’s still over 40k to go to UW from OOS. But sooooo worth it! I want to go there soooo badly! I hope the letter is good news, and I hope I get it soon!!!
