astrina - unfortunately ‘no’ to the food pics. Most of the best places I ate at were in the bad parts of Baltimore (which is arguably ALL of Baltimore), so I didn’t bring my DSLR–I did take photos with my iPhone–too bad that was stolen in Southeast Philadelphia.

It was an awesome trip, though! Couldn’t be happier that I took it. Now I know I’m not applying to Johns Hopkins anymore :)

yeah, baltimore’s pretty shady. i couldn’t quite reconcile the fact that JHU’s posh campus was so close to neighborhoods of boarded-up homes. sorry to hear about your iphone though, i hope you’re ok!

Yeah that explains the character of your suitemates.

Out of my 10 suitemates freshman year, 6 of them slacked off and got straight C-'s and some even D’s/F’s, would sit around all day looking for something to do and the nights before finals they would stay up all night procastinating/talking and keeping me up haha. Of course I got along with the remaining ones that actually lives reasonable lives.

I ended up living with the good ones and that year, we all stayed up late doing legitimate work since during the day we worked our a**es off with lecture/work/volunteer etc etc. Huge difference in the living situation. Choose the people you live with wisely. I’m glad I don’t LIVE with the friends of mine that I like to have a lot of fun with.

I lived with ‘slackers’ most of my college career–the trick is to not go home except for sleep or when you have no other responsibilities to tend to. I also lived pretty far from UCSD to save a lot of money on rent, so that may have had something to do with me never going home, but regardless …
