I live in CA and am a high school upcoming senior. What are good schools in CA to get elementary teaching certification ASAP? I’m not interested in teaching certification + Masters at the same time, like UC’s offer. What’s the best way to graduate with a bachelor’s and get teaching certification fastest? Do any colleges in CA offer that (when you graduate, you are already certified). Thanks!
Sonoma State University’s Hutchins program has lots of options, including 3 year and 5 year tracks to get you teaching immediately without a masters. Not 100% on all the details, but it’s highly regarded and very unique.
Humboldt State is another option. It has a Liberal Studies Elementary Education major and you can get your teaching credential immediately following there as well. Most CSUs have teaching credential programs but it is rare to be able to major in elementary education and Humboldt has it.
Check out each CSU campus to see if they have Four-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programs aka blended program as that will get you out faster
Good Luck
It’s a little hard for me to tell from the website, but it’s possible that the University of Redlands offers what you’re seeking.
Also UOP http://www.pacific.edu/academics/schools-and-colleges/gladys-l-benerd-school-of-education/academics/undergraduate/multiple-subject—elementary-education.html As a rule the CSU options will be cheaper, but it depends what financial aid and/or merit aid you might qualify for.
You can search CSU programs here: https://degrees.calstate.edu/search-results/26/all/69/all?areaofstudy=Education
Seconding Hutchins at Sonoma state
Another Sonoma nod here… Sac State also has a very good - ‘teaching in 4 years’ program that is worth a look.
Just about any CSU will have a viable program - and they are all pretty well aligned with the schools in their surrounding area. So, you should take a hard look at the CSU closest to where you’d like to live/work after you graduate.
UoP is really tough to financially justify unless you are wealthy. You don’t want to be paying back $100k + in loans on a teacher’s salary.
