Alright, a friend of mine got a letter from the Director of Admissions:

Month, Day Year

John Doe
123 Main Street
Anywhere, USA 12345

Dear John,

Thank you for visiting Hamilton College. We hope you enjoyed your time on our campus. I thought you might like to know that u told me you had a very strong interview. u was particularly impressed with your dedication to u.

Congratulations on this distinction and best wishes in the college search process.

Sincerely,
(hand signed signature)
Lora M. Schilder
Director of Admissions

Unlike those perfect signatures I've seen in the past, this one appears to be actually hand signed. We compared the earlier letters (Thanks for applying, etc.), those looked hand signed but they lined up perfectly. This one was slightly different than the rest.

My friend is a cynic, and he thinks it's a "you're not good enough...but we want to be nice..."

I think it can only be a good thing.

So, does everyone get these letters? Or is it an actual "you stood out" thing?

I think it's a "you stood out" thing. I recieved one of those too, and I was a little unsure about it. But I got into Hamilton so I really think that the letter was a good sign!!!

Has anybody read college *'s review of Hamilton regarding drug use? I was surprised and am curious as to whether or not those well acquainted with Hamilton agree or disagree with the profile in college *. Thanks. "college prrrrrler"

I received a similar letter discussing my interview and my therapy dog work - handsigned by the director, so am hoping that means I am accepted, as I really like Hamilton. I just wish I didn't have to wait until late March.

ON THE DRUG USE THING: I just got accepted to Hamilton EDII, class of 2012. I have a really good friend at Ham right now, and I just visited her less than a month ago.

Anyway, the thing about the drug use is basically, if you want drugs, you can get drugs. I guess the one thing that makes Ham such a "drug scene" (which it isn't) is that cocaine is fairly easy to obtain, but you still would never see anyone actually DOING any at parties, etc. Overall, when I visited, I never encountered any drugs. Beer, yes (oh yes), but no drugs.
