Good small colleges?

Look into Knox College in Galesburg Illinois. It’s an excellent mid-west school and my daughter took a computer science class there and my husband, who’s a computer specialist, was very impressed with the level of the class and the expertise of the professor.

A software engineering degree is not more valuable or respected than a CS degree (it is probably the opposite). So if you major in CS, you can take SE classes as part of your higher-level electives. So you may want to look at the differences in course offerings at a university or STEM school versus the LAC. You might appreciate the schools with broader offerings in CS, and perhaps engineering as well. For example Case Western has 5 areas of concentration in their CS department:
Software engineering, Computer Networks and Security, Database Systems and Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Algorithms and Theoretical Computer Science.

You won’t get that kind of breadth at a typical LAC.
Personally, I would prefer to be in an environment where there were more options in my major and closely related majors as well. In order to have a really well-formulated list, I think you need to start looking deeper into these details about schools. There are pros and cons to each type of school.

might look at Holy Cross.

Marist College. Under 6000 students on a gorgeous campus next to the Hudson River. Its CS program benefits from a partnership with IBM’s huge Poughkeepsie operation.

I took some excellent classes there when I worked for IBM in the area.

^^^Marist is a good suggestion. The campus is stunning and they do have a relationship with IBM. And if money is an issue the sticker price at Marist is lower than for most private colleges and you might qualify for some merit aid as well.

Bump
Just to see if anyone has anything new

I thought we decided you’re going to Marist ;-)

Why Marist?? It looks really nice
