Good Summer Programs?

SOO my friends have been making plans to go on road trips and glorious 2 month long vacations in europe after they finish senior year. My mom is from Japan, where everyone has a senior trip, so I kind of assumed I'd be able to go on one. However when I asked about a (frugal!) road trip, she said, "I think this summer you'd better work or take classes." Working would be good, but since I'll be so depressed and lonely I'm afraid the only thing I'd do to pass my time is shop, and then I'd have no money anyways.

BASICALLY I'm looking for good/fun pre-college summer programs. I'm into art but really would be glad to learn about anything not science/tech-y. Does anyone know of any good programs?

the ivies have summer program. Try one in a city which would give you lots of opportunity for exploration, like harvard/Boston, Penn/philadelphia, Columbia/NYC

many community colleges have programs.

About the Ivies: I know Yale's only goes up to the summer before senior year, and I think that's the case for a lot of them.

Summer Academic Programs - Singapore American School

Stanford Summer College is open to "exceptional" juniors, but you don't really need to be that "exceptional" to get in at that age. I had a great time.
