Google BOLD Internship 2014

Hi guys! I just found this thread. Waiting anxiously to hear back from Google! Does anyone know when the people who have heard back applied?

@rebeccanyc I can’t get an extension for eBay unfortunately :frowning: the deadline is not flexible.

@NoClue I got in touch with Google and they said they would make a note on my application but did not guarantee that I would have a decision soon

@javaadb glad you found the site. It sounds like a couple people have gotten rejection emails but I don’t think anyone has gotten an email yet saying they are moving on (to phone interviews)

@haroon7 I think that’s great you got an offer from ebay and I don’t think you should risk loosing it on the chance Google might let you move on to the next round

I’d play safe and go with eBay… In a sense, BOLD is a crapshoot considering the applicant pool. Unless you’re certain you’ll get in BOLD, I’d play safe.

@Calicious: Congrats on eBay! Still a huge accomplishment. Worst thing about these great Summer internships are the long waiting periods.

Did everyone get a confirmation email when they submitted their apps? I submitted mine back in Nov. but never got a confirmation email. Now I’m freaking out…

@emprex you should have gotten a conformation email, that is strange!
I got a conformation for filling out the supplemental application
Then a conformation for applying
Then a thank you for applying stay tuned email
Then a happy holiday stay tuned email

@emprex I got the conformation email but I haven’t heard anything since.

Got the same emails as Rebecca.

When did you submit NoClue? Maybe they’re only sending the “we’re still reading apps” email to those who submitted their application really late, aka last day haha. That’d make sense in my case.

I’m curious to see what other companies/internships you all have applied for? I’m aiming to get something marketing related and have applied to some other major companies in Seattle, where I’m from!

I applied to a bunch in marketing/HR. Goal is either Microsoft or Google, though. Aiming for SF/Mt. View locations, but I put flexible.

@Calicious I submitted relatively early. I’m hoping it’s just that they haven’t gotten around to my department yet.

I haven’t applied to many others but I have a couple in mind: Cisco, Yahoo, Time Warner, Juniper, HP. All around the Bay area.

Maybe it’s a good sign you’ll hear back soon. I’ll dread if they take until Feb for mine :(.

@calicious or even worse we don’t hear back until April.

Has anyone heard anything these last couple days?

no not yet… hopefully interview emails will be going out soon

@rebeccanyc: Don’t say that, I don’t think my mind can take waiting until April to find out! I’ve heard from some people who have got rejected…haven’t heard of anyone yet whose moved onto the interviews.

Nothing yet… I assume they’ll roll out decisions either next week or the week after that… anxiously waiting like y’all…

Hello All. Is anyone traveling a far distance if selected for the internship? If so, how do you prepare? I’ve never been out of my home state!

@ZioTrix

Yes, I would be traveling a far distance. I attend college in Boston but I live in Atlanta and if selected then I would be living in California (hopefully). I feel prepared as long as…

Other things to think about are: having a bank that is also serviced in the area that you are living in (not necessary but it does make some things easier). Another thing to try is going through your facebook friends and seeing if any of your friends live in the area that you are going to and that gives you someone to give you advice which is also very comforting.

Mentally checking yourself: Sometimes it’s really hard preparing to be away from home especially for so long but just remember that you are doing this for the betterment of yourself and others and that it will be relatively short time.

Clothes: If you are going to the Bay area then you can bring things likes shorts but remember to bring some warm clothes too because the bay area is surrounded by water for the ocean and the bay which sometimes can give a killer cross breeze in the morning and it can get pretty chilly but still it gets pretty warm too.

I’m sure there are other things that I’m leaving out but that’s what I can think of off the top of my head right now. I hope it helps  If not, I am definitely open for any other questions.
