Hey everyone! It's almost that time of the year where most students start applying for the Google BOLD Internship, particularly, Summer 2014. This thread has been started so that we can all share our insight/experiences. Good luck to everyone!

Sent in my application yesterday.

@NoClue71093
Awesome! If you don’t mind sharing, what position did you apply for? Best of luck!

I applied for the legal department in the Bay Area. What about you?

I’ve been waiting sooo long for this!

Are there any alumnis of previous years we can ask questions to~? I can’t seem to find a thread on CC about the program itself – such as an average work day/work hours and flexibility? I’m asking because Summer 2014, there’s a big wedding in my family in another country and I don’t want to miss the wedding nor would I want to affect my overall performance/rep at the internship (you know, hypothetically speaking as if I was hired haha).

@ lullabies: You could try reaching out to some of the people who posted on last years thread, though I’m not sure if they will still check this site. Other than that I would just email Google about it.

@NoClue, I haven’t sent in my application, because I’m trying to get my resume perfect. lol. But I will be applying for the People Operations position in any location. I live in Texas so relocation is inevitable.

@Lullabies, Same as Clue said, try to contact the people who posted in the last year’s threads. Maybe they can help. If they still use this website. lol

Is it just me or does this thread seem a lot less popular than previous years?

@NoClue You’re right. There’s a good amount of views, but not very much participation. Or the people viewing aren’t looking into the program. Oh well!

Hi Guys! I’m applying to google this year too, but haven’t submitted my application yet… I’m really nervous because apparently only 1,500 out of 40,000 get in!! Are you guys writing a cover letter?

and also i’m new to CC, how does this threading work? Will I get notifications about this thread or will I have to check in regularly?

Hey dglo22, what position are you applying for? I chose not to write a cover letter because I felt that they wanted people to include everything you would normally put into a cover letter in your resume and the short essay they ask you to write. I check in but you should be able to change that in your settings.

I’m actually surprised that many people get accepted. At least we know that if we are rejected, it’s not because we are inadequate. I’m sure the number of applicants will be significantly larger too.

I wish there was more feedback from alumnis. I reached out on CC and even on fb (LOL not creepy at all).

I’m hoping to get in for marketing. What about you guys?

Do you know if the junior in college requirement is strict? I’m a sophomore and still want to apply, and I feel like i remember looking at this program a year or two ago and noticing that there was not a requirement to be a junior like many other internships require.

I’m planning on applying. I looked at the application, it seems simple enough, but I feel like that’s what gets people haha. Planning on putting in my best effort. I consider myself to be a minority even in minorities. I really wish my GPA was higher though. I would LOVE to receive an internship offer, but wouldn’t everyone? I’m a sophomore so I hope I still have a chance at this. I hope we all do well. Good luck everyone! I’ll post on here once I do submit the application.

I visited the Google New York office a couple of weeks ago and they said this year, they’re limiting the program to juniors unlike past years.

Hey guys, are there any non-diversity based business internships at Google? Are they typically posted later? I’m going to submit an app to BOLD but I don’t see my odds as very high due to my race. =/

I think they have a program for sophomores. It’s less weeks and less extensive, but probably worth the visit.

Im a Junior undergrad in my universities business school. Ive really wanted to be apart of the BOLD internship for quite some time now. My application is almost complete, but Im concerned I won’t get the job. I have a busy resume, but my GPA is low a 2.9. Do you think I still have a chance of getting in?

GoogleManiac, I have no clue. I feel your pain though. lol. All I can say is try anyway! The worst they can say is no. :)
