Got a call from a UCLA student about alumni scholarships?

I just got a call this morning (not automated) from a current UCLA student telling me to go to their website and apply for an alumni scholarship...it didn't sound like spam or anything. Is this just standard for all applicants or is this a good sign? Did anyone else get this?

Also, when filling this out...is it bad not to have a career in mind? They want us to fill one in. o.0 and there aren't enough spaces to fill out all of my immediate family members...

I also got this, from some girl with an Australian accent. I hope it means something significant, but honestly, I don’t think it means we have a higher chance of admittance.

i also got one this morning. oh…that was Australian accent, good to know.
she asked me to apply for alumni scholarship. the thing is i don’t have any volunteer works to write about. that was also the reason i decided to pass it three months ago.

have you guys registered that alumni scholarship before? or submitted your regents?

I got the call today as well. I was admitted for Fall 2011, but had to defer my admission to Fall 2012 for medical reasons, so I KNOW that I’m admitted. Not saying it’s a guarantee that you’re admitted, but it certainly can not be a bad thing.

I didn’t get regents, nor did I fill this out before. I assumed any scholarship would put financial needs into the equation at least a little bit, and I’m not within the financial aid range so it seemed pointless. I’m a bit frustrated that they called me so late to tell me to apply. I mean, I don’t know if I can convince two instructors to write me a letter of rec in time…

what was your stats?
I am asking because i didnot got a call )=

@newssoul
when is the deadline? the one i see online is may 3rd. maybe you have a different link. the UC application receipts all stated to apply for scholarships as well. it was very nice of them to call and remind you as well. good luck.

Psychology major, 3.93 GPA.

I know…the information on the key information page it says May 3.
[Community College Transfer Scholarships | UCLA Alumni](http://alumni.ucla.edu/scholarships/apply/community-college-transfer.aspx)

But on the log in page it says community college scholarships are due April 30, and I’m inclined to go with the earlier date just to be on the safe side.

This is only for CCC students right? So Community College Transfer Scholarships=Alumni Scholarship?

There’s a few different Alumni Scholarships, I believe. One of them is only for transfer students. :)
