Got a deferred phone call!

Apparently Stanford does still give deferred phone calls because I just got one! The admissions guy called to say that they had sent out the letters and that I was going to be receiving an offer of admission. :)

PS. I hope someone didn't already post this information because CC is going slower than a snail coated in honey for me.

Great analogy. Haha.

Zeller when did you get the call? Are you relatively high up on the list alphabetically or no?

Oh and of course, CONGRATS!

I got the call at 5:21 (I love caller ID). I'm about 2/3 down on the alphabet. However, I am in Nebraska (central time) so I imagine I would get it earlier than anyone in mountain or pacific time zones.

Thanks, it really boosted my spirits after I found that I was rejected from Harvard and Yale.

I just called the Admissions Office and they said that if you were deferred and haven't received a phone call yet, it doesn't have anything to do with your admission decision. They said that they will continue to make phone calls throughout the week.

Man, I need this, especially since I didn't get into Berkeley.

Yeah- I got the call too. I was deferred SCEA but now apparently I'm accepted. I'm in Seattle and I got the call about 4:00 PT (7:00 ET).
I am so pumped! Good luck to all you other RDs

For those who got calls, when did you turn in your update form? Close to March 1st, or way before?

About a week before the deadline.

Southsider, I hope thats true because I'm really depressed right now :(

same here krk3561

i got a phone call too -- it was completely surreal!! :D
i live in ma and i sent my update form on 2/28. i did send it priority mail, but i doubt it got there before the 2nd (oops).
my call came at 9pm my time (6pm west coast), and i'm at the beginning of the alphabet. i think its a random order -- im pretty sure the girl who called me was a student, and she probably just had to call a list of people at some point in the next couple days. good luck to all you deferees -- i hope you all get phone calls!

I also got a phone call, and I was so surprised! I live in Hawaii and got it at 5 oclock. Definitely a surprise. I was totally planning on being depressed until the snail mail came. but yay

Het southsider, what do you think they meant when they said it has "nothing to do with your admission decision." Did they mean they are not calling everyone who was deferred and now admitted? Or they just didn't get to some of those yet? Any info is appreciated!

Deuxenfants -

I called the admissions office and the representative I spoke with told me that if you were deferred and didn't receive a phone call, that didn't signify in any way that you weren't accepted. She said that they will still be calling accepted deferrees until the end of the week. If you don't receive a call by then, then you should get a little worried. Good luck to all of you - I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed. Stanford has been my number one choice ever since I was in elementary school (maybe even in kindergarten).

ADD:

By the way, what else did they say when they called you to tell you that you were admitted?

Why would they only call some?

Let's see, the guy who called me said that he had personally reviewed my file. He thought I would get the letter in Nebraska on Monday, so they're not sending it fed-ex or anything (but we already knew that). I asked when the financial aid offers would be sent and he said in the next few days. We didn't talk long, I wanted to go tell my parents and he had more people to call. Now that would have to be a great job :)

Got the phone call at 5:30 p.m. central time. Congrats to those who also received the good news!

That's too bad for me, no phone call. I guess I'll assume the worst.

No phone call either.... I live about 2 miles away from Stanford. Any deferrees from Cali get a call? Maybe they're just letting us receive our decisions tomorrow...or maybe I'm just way optimistic.
