...from a Stanford freshman. Unfortunately, I wasn't at home so my father spoke to her. It is really nice how they get current students to answer any questions from prospective freshmen (ProFros is the term she used). I was wondering if all colleges do this. It's probably a good way to increase the yield as well.

I got a call from a senior.

Haha, yup, for the past three days, several of us have been calling you guys. And we called EVERYBODY who got in early. If one of you didn't get a call, we simply couldn't reach you for some reason or other. We at least try to leave messages if nobody picks up, or mark you as someone we'll try to reach later if the call doesn't go through. I have definitely gotten one or two people who changed phone numbers after submitting their apps, which was kinda awkward...but I've also had one dude who gets mail really sporadically and I was the first one to let him know he'd gotten in, which was awesomeness. We like to give you guys a chance to talk with someone who actually goes to Stanford, ask whatever questions you want, etc, etc. Like I mentioned earlier in another thread, we really do try to give you guys all the special treatment we can. I don't know of a single other college that calls all 2400 or so of its admits. :-)

We call all 2400, j?

I know we called the earlies :) TWTh of this week. If we call all 2400, that must be a new addition. The only school I got a call from back in my application days was from some little known university in Cambridge... but even that wasn't enough to convince me to give up Stanford ^_^

Congratulations again to all of you - hope you enjoyed the phone call!

Me too!! I had a freshman. Do you all coordinate calls to where everyone lives b/c the girl who called me actually lives like 5 minutes away from me(didnt know that!!)

Thanks

I got called on Wednesday.

We've always called everyone who gets in, or at least tried really hard to. We don't really coordinate, per se. The people who call in the earlier hours take the east coast, and people who come later take the midwest/west coast. But then again, a lot of us try to hit the areas around our old alma maters. I basically called most of the Texas admits last year, goodness knows that was one heck of a feat. :-P

I got a call from a guy who's from Quito, Ecuador. I wonder if they matched us up with the people who called us? My family owns a farm in Ecuador and I plan to volunteer in Ecuador during my gap year; I know I mentioned the farm and future travel in Ecuador in my essays.

I guess it was probably a coincidence, though.

I wasn't home when he called, but he left his email address with my mom. I should email him. :)

Someone named Jennifer called me. She said she was a freshman, and sounded pretty nice. Friendly of Stanford isn't it?

I got a call from Jasmine, also a freshman. It is friendly. I just like all this continuous contact, what with the initial decision, the SUNet ID, admission counselor notes, and now calls. All this is keeping my head in the clouds. :D
