i just got an email saying that i need to send tax return and the student dependent sheet to uci. i think that they think my taxed income was too low but that is just what it says in the tax return. so i am not lying about anything. will they be suspicious seeing the low income numbers even though i give them my copy of tax return.

they might think you are lying. at the same time, they randomly request verification from random people.

you said you didnt lie, so i wouldnt worry about it. ive had friends who were screened to randomly verify stuff on their UC app. the only downside was that my friends had to pay for postage.

If everything was true don't worry about it - just mail them what they have asked for.

We were verified this year and had to send our tax returns and fill out a verification worksheet. Don't know if we were randomly selected (about 30% of FAFSAs are randomly selected for verification every year) or if there was a trigger. But everything on our forms was correct and we sent the requested documents. Not a problem.

will be suspicious with the figures on the tax return and think that it is not possible to live on that income?

^ they shouldnt suspect you of anything if u have proof then u should be fine. i got a request for tax return and this form as well. its no big deal

I got the request as well; they gave me LOADS of aid (I get 22k in aid each year ) so I guess they just want verification.

Yeah, I got the request. They were generous with aid for me too, I only have to pay $500 each year.

i got mine too. it said if u reported more than 1 person from ur family currently enrolled in college, other than urself, then u have to verify it

i think i only reported myself going to college but they still told me to verify

You are overthinking this. Just provide the documentation they have asked for. As long as you were honest you won't have a problem. If they have any more questions they will ask you.

on my email it says that "i was selected for a process called verification." do they really only select a few people and i was lucky or do all people have to submit this

relax dude. i dont/didnt have to do it, but i doubt they seriously suspect that you are trying to scam them (unless you are).

just do it, get the aid, and enjoy college!

yeah. i got the same thing. i think as long as you mail the requested documents then you should be fine. i am doing mine so don't worry about it. i thought i needed more aid than i got. but i didn't so i am kinda upset but uci offers more than any other ucs. so thats why i am going.
