i just got accepted into teh fordham CBA (WOOO so excited) and i have been looking on the fordham site for some indepth information. However they provide NO statistics about there attrition rate or employment rate or any of that. Now of course im going to visit but i can't until around feb. I was wondering (fordham students only please, no parents) about these statistics and how your HONEST experience has been at fordham.

For example does it REALLY feel like they treat you like a little kid? i know the cirriculum is rigurous and you MUST have 16 credit minimum but does it really affect you that much?

also where does the ram van drop you off in manhatten?

How big are the classes at fordham?

can you be a little more specific about the library? Ive heard it amazing but i dont know exactly what it contains...

Also how "high-tech" is fordham? i realize they are an oldschool but what are the doing for the students in this department? (for example, bentley has study rooms which is video recorded and than sent to your email later on).

How do people at fordham treat jews to be quite frank? ive realized that they are in new york city but i also know there are a few radical kids out there who discriminate and i am wondering if thats how fordham is?

how are the dorms at RH as far as quality and room(NOT QUEENS COURT)?

any of these answers i would greatly appreciate (again from students at fordham at rose hill or CBA)

Ok. The professors do not treat you like a kid. It definitely one thing they do not do. Usually they'll give you a lecture, if you want extra help, you have to go to their office hours. You will be checked when it comes to you doing your reading. They might ask questions during lectures to see if you read.
The core. Its long, but its worth it. You get to explore different subjects and try new things on. I don't know what you mean by "does it really affect you that much?"

Classes in fordham are roughtly 30 people. Its a regular hs classroom setting usually. Some classes are fifteen people, bc they are seminars. So they are fairly small. Unless you take a big science course like chem or bio, you won't sit in one of those large lecture halls.

I was in a summer camp at Fordham and some of the classrooms were really impressive. Quite high-tech.

can you elaborate on what they had that was high tech about it?

and what i meant was do the classes seem rediculous to take or would they be worth taking anyway?

I come from a high school that is really really really really really poor so maybe what I consider high tech isn't high tech to other people. What I mean is there are huge smart boards, nice chairs, cozy atmosphere in the room, etc.

i was asking more about the computer integration that they use at fordham and how there databases are etc, but thank you

i'm a cba student. im going to answer your questions as best as i can.

-i can't say for sure, but a lot of employers at fordham who are constantly recruiting. i wish they would provide that sort of information as well, but it's pretty high from numbers i've heard thrown out before. i mean in the end it's up to you as a student to take initiative to find a job. the opportunities are there at fordham though.

-they say CBA is the "color book academy" because the courses are 'easier'. i suppose it depends on who you ask. i personally find most of the CBA core to be a joke. also you do NOT need a minimum of 16 credits. You are allowed to take a maximum of 17 credits a semester (more if you have a 3.5gpa and ask for permission). To graduate from CBA, you need 40 courses. That's why CBA makes students take 5 classes (3 credits each usually, rarely 4) a semester. Normally in Rose Hill you'll take 4 classes (4 credits each usually).

-The Ram Van leaves you at the Lincoln Center campus. It's about one block away from Columbus Circle. It's on W 60th St intersecting with Columbus Ave. Here's a link: lincoln center, ny, ny - Google Maps

-Depends what classes you're taking. Most of the classes I've taken have ranged from 6 to 30.

-I avoid the library like the plague. I only go there when professors ask me to. From what I've seen, there's a lots of books, lots of spaces to study, plenty of computers for students to use, and labs as well for students to watch videos/hear audio for classes.

-I believe all class rooms are smartrooms. Just about all the rooms I've seen have podiums with computers and some sort of projector and speakers setup. I suppose this is typical of most schools though. The entire campus has wireless though some areas are worse than others. There are some kiosks around campus you can use to do web browsing. And there's a bunch of other services offered by Fordham IT for students. Check this out: Students

-I've never seen any discrimination at Fordham from students like that.

-the dorms are alright. luckily i never had to be in the freshman dorms. the upperclassmen dorms are great though especially walsh and ohare.
