I appreciate all the advice, but can anyone that is in Burnett maybe list the advantages it has over a normal state school experience

[UCF: The Burnett Honors College: Benefits](http://honors.ucf.edu/Admissions/Benefits)

I’ve already seen that page, and know the surface benefits. I want a student’s personal take on it, though.

I’m not a current student, but Im going to point out the not so obviously obvious, if that makes any sense.

First of all comes the early priority. At a huge university, like UCF, UF, FSU or Auburn, there are so many people that you probably won’t get to take half the classes you want to take. Heck, my sister goes to a private uni with very few students and she still didn’t get some of the classes she asked for this semester. So with priority registration, you are almost guaranteed to get into the classes that you want, with the professor that you want, at the time that is most convenient to you. To me, that’s golden.

The second thing is that if you are planning to go to grad school, rec letters are VERY important. So if all your classes are huge auditoriums, chances are that your teachers won’t know you at all and won’t write letters of rec. But if you have honors classes with 15 students (that is MUCH smaller than any class at my high school), its going to be pretty easy to get rec letters.

To me, that’s what I’m looking for, and I will hopefully be accepted.

I have a 1320/2030 SAT, 4.8 Weighted GPA, a pretty good rec letter, and pretty good EC’s

My son hasn’t filled out the application yet but we got a phone call tonight from someone at Burnett Honors College asking if my son had received his honors application yet and if he had any questions about it or the school. I thought that was really nice.

He plans to fill it out over christmas vacation (it’s not due until January 15 as far as I can tell).

I plan on sending mine tommorrow… About how long did those accepted take to get an acceptance/denial?

It only took me a week to hear back from Burnett Honors College

Hmmm. Hopefully my turnaround will be similar. Just wondering, but about how long was your personal statement? I take succinctly to be under two pages but a friend is sending four lol.

I think mine was about 500 words, no more than two pages. I personally emailed Burnett asking the length of the personal statement and I got this response… “We do not have any sort of word minimum or limit for our personal statement. Write as much or as little as you need in order to tell us your story.”

I also got my decision within a week.

I personally handed in my application last Wednesday so hopefully I hear either this week or next week. Do they tell you if they rejected you? lol

I applied as a transfer student with an AA from FGCU… Just curious, are the majority of you on here who got accepted or are applying freshmen? Any of you transfers?

I just mailed mine in today. I hope i sent the right personal statement hahahaha

Im really hoping I get in because the pros of the honors college are huge. I will most likely still go to UCF even if I don’t get in to Honors, but it will make me reconsider my decision at least a little bit

for sure. Honors college and LEAD would be awesome for grad school and is basically like going to a tiny private school with all the awesomeness that is orlando

Just got into Burnett Honors College. And with that…I am officially a Knight!

holy ****e! congrats! I truly hope I get in:/ my app was sent in last week so hopefully I’ll get in!

Dolphinfreak-
Congratulations on making it into honors-
I just received an unsolicited honors application from UCF in the mail the other day. How was I selected as I havent even indicated that I am attending yet ? Generally speaking, what advantages those honors have to offer ? Thanks

Here is a list of the benefits of Honors from the website:

My son got the official scholarship letter today in the mail and it also says that his scholarship comes with automatic admittance to the Honors College. Very cool.

so my personal statement i sent in for the normal admissions at ucf answers their first personal statement perfectly. should i just send in the same one or do the avatar one
