I applied to a couple schools but I got into my top two schools so far. The schools are temple university and indiana university. the other schools i applied to and probally will get into are suny buffalo, suny albany, and new paltz. which of these schools would you recommend to me. i plan on majoring in english.

Well I attend Temple, and applied to IU in HS. If you have any questions, ask away.

It depends what you are looking for in a school. Both Temple and Indiana are very large and you will have big lecture halls for your classes, less personal attention and feel more like a number. Temple is not in a good surrounding neighborhood and there are some sefety concerns. Of the two, I think Indiana gets more of a positive response from students.

Of the 3 SUNY schools, I like New Paltz best. UB is too far and too cold/snowy. Albany has taken a nose dive in reputation in the last few years and I think has attracted a very non descript population. On the other hand, New Paltz has risen in reputation and is a rising star in my opinion. It is becoming a more competitive choice, has a liberal, creative population, is 1 1/2 hours from NYC, has a fun and funky town within walking distance to the school with Poughkeepsie nearby. It has a close knit college community feeling with a good teacher to student ratio. My son transferred here from a private university this semester. He is getting a lot of attention to his needs and we are impressed with the school so far.

Good luck with whatever school you choose!

Actually, outside of stuff like intro to accounting, most classes here are quite small, and even in rare cases like that, professors are very accessible, and you're hardly a number. I've had several classes with 20-25 people in them. And safety is not a concern if you can use common sense.

how is the financial aid and scholarships at temple. i already filed my fafsa and my mother makes 20,000 a year. would i have any trouble paying for school?

what state do you claim as residency? As a state related university, Temple is much more affordable for instate residents. In addition to need based (which you may qualify for), they also have a range of merit scholarships.

i live in ny so i would have to pay out of state tuition.
