Got accepted to NYU CAS!!!!!!! NO AID! :) Planning on transferring out <3

If I transfer after my first or second year, do my test scores (SAT) matter? What about HS grades?

Is it easier to transfer after the first or second year?

I want to transfer out so that when I’m rich, I won’t be contributing to NYU’s endowment. I don’t like them.

Not sure why you go there in the first place, then.

@dowzerw I definitely want to live in New York but I don’t think I’d settle down there. So I’ll go to get what I need from it. And then I’ll dip to USC or Columbia or some other much better schools who might care about their students.

You are going to one of the most expensive schools in the country with plans to transfer out? Why go there in the first place?

@arc918 so about my questions

Many top private schools consider high school GPA and test scores, but less so for junior transfers than sophomore transfers. Public schools usually only consider college GPA because most of their transfer applicants are coming from community colleges. So if your high school numbers are good (relative to your new college’s student body), you’ll probably be able to transfer there after a year. If not, then apply after 2 years.

It’s easier to not go there at all if you’re going to transfer.

@goldenbear2020 Thank you. :slight_smile:

@bodangles To you and whomever else who cares, graduating from NYU is my backup plan in case transferring doesn’t go as planned. I don’t REALLY mind graduating from there, but I will transfer to somewhere better if I can. If not, that’s not a big deal. I was just trying to see my transfer options.

Don’t go there if it’s too expensive. Are you currently a freshman there or a HS senior?
Transfers get lousy aid and it’s harder to transfer to top schools than to get in as a freshman.

–Your plan is flawed. If you can’t afford NYU find an affordable alternative. There certainly are cheaper schools in and close to NYC.

–If you try to transfer after one year your HS record will be in play for the decision.

–Top schools have few spots for transfers.
–And as noted above transfers typically don’t get merit aid.

@MYOS1634 @happy1 I can afford it. Graduating from NYU is my backup plan.

@imnyuhere If you can afford NYU I don’t know why you are surprised/aggravated about not getting aid. NYU is pretty well known for not giving great aid. But anyway, hope things work out the way you want.

I’m confused as to why you applied ED to one of the most expensive private institutions in the world with plans on transferring. Most top schools have very few spots for transfer students simply because students don’t transfer out. It feels like you wasted your ED ticket on a school that you’re not even interested in/feel as though you’re better than. But to answer your question, many schools stop requesting (although it is optional) HS stats after 4 semesters/2 years of college, so if you’re not proud of your stats, apply for Junior transfer.

Also I don’t know if you were serious (in which case you’re in for a rude awakening) or not about the “when I’m rich” remark, but it gave me a chuckle.

Good luck, and there’s no point in being rude to people who were just curious about your situation.

What is with the jail bars over your profile pic?

@happy1 @adreamer22 lmao I have my reasons. anyway, next time, i’ll just be straight up and ask for answers to specific questions instead of giving background info that just brings all the posts off topic when i seriously don’t care. :slight_smile:
