I wanna transfer to NYU in 1 or 2 years. Right now I'm gonna go into my freshman year at FSU. I got great grades in HS but didnt even bother applying because of the annual tuiton. So I want to go in after undergrad.
What will I need to do to increase my chances of getting in?
Do they still look at HS grades after 2 years in college?
What college GPA will I need?

Most of the information you need can be found by doing a quick Google search and stumbling upon: [NYU > Undergraduate Admissions > Applying for Admission > Transfer Applicants](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply)

To increase your chances of getting in, take rigorous classes, get involved in student groups, volunteer somewhere, try to start classes relating to your intended major, and get as high a GPA as possible (I’d say 3.5+ just to be on the safe side, 3.65+ to be on the even safer side). Basically, do what you did in high school when you were trying to make yourself look good for colleges.

Well…ok. Havent been here for some time. Is there anyone here who went through the process? Did anyone transfer from a state school?

I did. I actually decided to go to Columbia - BUT
I originally went to SUNY Plattsburgh, transferred to Fordham - hated it - and then applied for transfer to both Columbia and NYU.

If I recall correctly, NYU does want you high school grades, even if you’re a transfer, no matter how many years you’ve been in college. However, the more years you’ve been in college - the less weight your HS grades might carry.

Regarding college GPA, aim for a minimum of a 3.7.
They tell you that a “B” average is typical, but it’s better to aim higher than what they’ve specified.

wow…so you trasferred twice? that didnt have a bad effect on the admissions office?
You must have had really great scores though right?
What was your college GPA when you went from Fordham to Columbia?
Was it dramatically different to your HS grades or could you have gotten in then already?

I don’t think it had a bad effect, I got into both schools. My HS GPA was atrocious, though. I had a 2.3-ish, give or take.
My GPA at Plattsburgh was a 3.9 and my GPA at Fordham was a 3.8

wow not bad. I hope I get that kind of gpa…well if your SAT scores werent over the roof, I now have hope…might even get into an ivy as well? lol
oh just 1 more question. What was your intended major? Could that have helped? (or help me)
