Got an email from UCI about winter 06 transfer

Okay so, I'm getting more and more anxious and but I called yet again and I have some good news. I figure, because I got a whole range of answers, I'll just call and use the average response. And just in case, I changed my voice so they don't think I'm some weirdo calling everyday, but in actuality, I suppose I am. Genius! Hahah, well anyway here are the results for my final call:
*After submitting your interest form, it's practically assured that you will receive a response by Monday.
*THERE IS NO COMPETITION, according to the admissions lady. She said we're just waiting for the email detailing our next step. I guess they're using this time to see that people interested didn't drop to a 2.0 in their senior year.

just to add some info, when I called after submitting my form of interest the lady also said that its basically more then a "strong chance" that I would be accepted and like for others who also called she also said that they would be sending an email with instructions. also, she also said that them sending all of us the emails was based on the original app that we sent in last year.

I love you two. <3 Thanks, hehe. Wow...That's just great news.

soooo I got this email today

Dear [me]:

After a thorough review of the information you provided, I am pleased to advise
you that you will be admitted to the University of California, Irvine (UCI) for
winter 2006. Our provisional assessment from the information you have provided
indicates you are a strong candidate for transfer admission to UCI.

In order to provide you with an official offer of admissions, you will need to
participate in a winter 2006 application processing session at the UCI campus.
Given the short timeline before the holidays, the Office of Admissions and
Relations with Schools has scheduled the following dates for in-person
processing:

DATE TIME LOCATION
Wednesday, December 14 3:30-6:30 p.m. Humanities Interim Building, Rm. 135
Thursday, December 15 3:30-6:30 p.m. Student Services Building I, Rm. 203
Friday, December 16 3:30-6:30 p.m. 107 Administration Building

Our aim at the OARS Admissions Processing Session is to complete your winter
2006 processing at that time. You will need to bring only the following
materials with you to the session:

(1) Valid identification (California Driver's License, etc.)
(2) Completed UC transfer application for winter 2006 (please download the
application at <a href="http://www.admissions.uci.edu/pdf/w06_apply.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.admissions.uci.edu/pdf/w06_apply.pdf</a> and bring
the completed application with you to the session)
(3) Final high school transcript(s) - unofficial accepted but official will
be required by January 31, 2006

required by January 31, 2006
(5) Check or money order for $100 payable to UC Regents to complete your
Statement of Intent to Register

Given your specific circumstances as a winter 2006 transfer to UCI, it is
important that you complete your registration and fee payment as quickly as
possible to be ready for the first day of classes this winter quarter, January
6, 2006. While your official admission letter will include your deadlines to
provide a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) and Statement of Legal Residence
(SLR), I want to take this opportunity to make your transition to the UCI
community as seamless as possible by reviewing specific information on your next
steps to enrollment.

Director of Admissions

Me too :) Isn't that exciting?

YEAH CONGRATS GUYS!!!
I can't believe this! Yay! The only bad thing is well, I have finals next week, and I need to drive ~5 hours to get down there from San Francisco. That means I have to cut a final...
Uh oh.

Congrats you guys. :) Unfortunately...I didn't get mine yet, and I'm really starting to doubt that I will, assuming they sent all of yours at the same time.

And I have finals on Wednesday and Thursday too...And I have work on Friday. Not sure how I'd work it out but I'm not going to worry about it until it's for sure that I don't get in. :p

Anyway, congrats to you all again, and best of luck on trying to make it there invinceable!

Xcron, I agree with your father. Probably a big part of the reason why you're going to CCC first is because of finances-I don't think that reason has changed. You're saving nearly half of your 4 year degree- around 40,000 dollars! After making the decision to go to CCC, I think you should follow it through. After all, it doesn't matter where you start, it matters where you end up (and how much you owe lol).

40k? Where are you getting your figures?

Like bfired2 said, do not go to a UC just for its name. You MIGHT end up with an average paying job and will have to pay additional loans after you graduate. That is the last thing you would want after receiving your diploma.

I'm going off the average fees for UCI, living on campus. It's over 20,000 a year- I don't have the exact figure, but it's a bundle. I think the other UCs have similar fees.

Well, the deadline has come and passed and I have stayed determined to follow through with my purpose. However, my experiences from this first semester in college are telling me otherwise about how successful I will be with my current goals. sigh

The money issue was not what I cared about because I would be taking the loans upon myself and my father was probably giving me only some wise advice. My motive was to go to a school that I would really enjoy and one where I would have a limitless amount of resources, both for personal and academic endeavors. The UC brand name is rather well-backed, considering UCB, UCLA, and perhaps UCSD. Well, we'll wait and see what happens within these two years...

Hi, I have a question for those who have accepted the Winter transfer offer....IT says we have to bring a completed Winter application, but I'm wondering as to how I would fill it out. I graduated high school in June 2005, and didn't get into Irvine fresh out of high school. I took one semester at a junior college which just ended, so am I still a freshman applicant or transfer?
I would think freshman, but I would be placing conflicting answers down with the most recent school attended, etc.
Do you think they would have my online application from last year still on file? That's plenty more accurate..

In the email they send they have a link where you can d/l and print the application. And we are considered transfers btw, not freshmen.

Hmm. Well I called UCI several times this week and actually ended up speaking with Marguerite Bonous-Hammarth. She told me that the records show no trace of me ever submitting my interest...Though I find that odd since I did receive a 'receipt' e-mail after sending it in (and duplicates, to be exact). She then told me that she would personally look into my problem, and that I should fill out my application and bring all the other documents tomorrow.

...How have you all filled in the application? Should I leave my CCC courses without a grade, or put in the grades I am expecting? I can't get a transcript from CCC yet seeing as my semester ended today, and won't until January...So, should I just get a print out of my schedule?

Edit: Oh, and one other thing, I haven't spoke with anyone from the Financial Aid or the Student Housing offices (will though after being confirmed accepted). Is there anything I should expect/need so that I could be better prepared? Thank you!

The UC brand name is rather well-backed, considering UCB, UCLA, and perhaps UCSD.

Those 3 aren't the only UCs that are well-backed.

So I've basically got everything done and have enrolled in classes now, thanks everyone for the great advice and what not. And to all the others who have taken the same choice I have, good luck with it, maybe I'll see some of you guys around campus.

Really? I haven't been able to get my UCInedID yet. :( I already did my SLR and SIR...does anyone else have this problem or know whats wrong?
